Pilbara Light Show, Walyja Ngurra: Presenting local Aboriginal Artwork by Martumili Artists in a way you've never seen it before!
In partnership with the Shire of East Pilbara, PAV was invited to design a major draw card for the Shire's annual Fusion Festival. With few creative constraints (other than "make it impressive!", we set plans in motion to transform the Shire's Arts Centre for four nights of storytelling for the Pilbara Light Show, using projection, animation, audio, and lighting.
PAV engaged with digital animator and storyteller Sohan Ariel Hayes to evolve a story from the local Indigenous of the land - The Martumilli people.
Drawn from the landscapes that Martu artist Ngamaru Bidu paints, the exhibition bathed viewers in intense chromatic light inspired by the cultural and land management practices of Martu using waru (fire).
Hayes worked closely with Bidu to bring her artworks to life, combining high resolution images of Bidu's fire paintings, the information she shared with him, and his own digital animation skills to create a landscape in flux, a large and immersive projection experience.
Two planes of light each 16m wide and 8m in height were used, with another plane on the ground (16m wide by 16m in length), allowing for continuous projection across both surfaces.
In addition, five cubic meters of Pindan riverbed sand were transported in and placed on the ground to give texture and a feeling of being "on country" to all those who visited.
Accompanying the visuals were the sounds of wind, fire, thunder, and singing in 4.1 audio, enchanting guests and transporting them to a night in the desert.
A fully time-coded lighting installation emphasised the colours in Ngamaru's artwork which simulated the night sky elements of the story.
This event brought a new connection between the Shire of East Pilbara, The Martumilli Arts Centre and the local community.
During the showcase, artworks were sold, with proceeds going back to the artists and the Martumilli Arts centre.

Pilbara Light Show 2022: Local Aboriginal Artwork Immersed

Teams from across the world battled it out for the Perth leg of the Inter-Continental Cup.
Featuring teams from the USA, China, Canada, South Africa, Japan and beyond the week-long tournament lit up HBF Stadium with both women's and men's competitions.
Congratulations to the Aussie men's (gold medal) and ladies' (silver) teams.
PAV provided eye-catching LED banners and a LED truck.

Fina Water Polo World League Inter-Continental Cup

On a Night Like This: at the Museum was the final "Night at the Museum" style event held by the Foundation for the WA Museum before they move into the New Museum nearing completion in the Perth Cultural Centre.
Guests experienced a delectable menu selection, award winning beverages, exclusive access to the Kylie On Stage exhibition, and a breathtaking performance from "Absolutely Kylie" and her Kylie-esque dancers.
PAV proudly sponsored the event and provided lighting, audio, vision and theming for the main performance stage, furniture, media walls, menu design and printing, bars and food stations.
The LED Truck showcased a live social media feed and sponsor logos.

On a Night Like This at the WA Museum

PAV were contracted by artist Caroline Christie-Coxon to projection-map her Signature Gallery onto the fa├&ordm;ade of the Old Cloisters Building on St Georges Terrace.
The projection featured Caroline's Limited Edition collection and provided the perfect backdrop to a private function and gallery viewing.
PAV worked closely with Caroline to adapt the content for the projection, which included animated interpretations of a few pieces of her collection.

Light Art Installation Event

The Balayi - Open Your Eyes! Festival was curated to celebrate the first arrival of Europeans to the west of Australia 400 years ago.
In July 1619 Commander Frederick de Houtman of the Dutch East India Company came across the coast line of Southwest Western Australia and the Houtman Abrolhos Islands.
The catch-cry "Balayi - Open Your Eyes" acknowledges that even though Houtman saw no signs of people ashore, it was a long-occupied land.
PAV projection-mapped the 100-year-old St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with custom illusion and perspective style projection mapping mixed with custom animated underwater 3D content complete with cuttlefish, dolphins, jellyfish, sharks, turtles, coral and plant life to represent the ecology of the Abrolhos islands where the Dutch Landed 400 years ago.
This was coupled with live GoPro footage of fish and coral filmed at Abrolhos.
Content was projected in UHD 4K resolution with 5 projector towers.
This was mirrored by video stories being projected onto the Queens Park Theatre directly opposite the Cathedral, which featured stories from local fishermen and indigenous story tellers giving their side of the Abrolhos story as well as some history about the Dutch visitors.

Balayi - Open Your Eyes! Festival

Working alongside our valued client and venue partner, PAV Events recently produced an on-field dining experience for twenty guests.
Digital content and stadium lighting was designed to match courses boasting world&Ocirc;&Ccedil;&Ouml;s best produce from all over WA.
Working alongside the Optus F&amp;B team, Executive Chef Jochen Beranek, Phenomenon, and KOJO, our services included event management, multimedia, entertainment, audiovisual, lighting and stage.

Optus Stadium On-field Client Dinner

LandCorp and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority have merged to become DevelopmentWA, responsible for shaping and creating sustainable communities, prosperous industry and resilient regions across the state.
PAV powered the official launch event for DevelopmentWA, held at the old East Perth Power Station to a contingent of over 300 property industry, government and local government leaders.
Multiple site visits were held in the lead up to the event and the event build took place over two days.
Solutions provided by PAV included:

DevelopmentWA Launch Event

January's warm summer nights again see the return of City of Joondalup's Music in the Park series.
Talented musicians Bobby Alu, Declan Kelly, and Finn Pearson took the stage at Mawson Park, Hillarys for an evening of live music, free children's activities, and food trucks.
PAV provided an L'acoustic PA system including foldback, a mixture of static and moving head lighting fixtures along with a concert hazer to highlight the light beams, and stage management for the event.
The event received very positive feedback including the best lighting show the client had seen in years.

Odette Mercy and her Soul Atomics
Super tight, dynamic and with a reputation for one of the best live shows in Western Australia, six-piece soul act Odette Mercy and her Soul Atomics take their influence from the heavy soul sounds of the sixties.
The band has been no stranger to life's lessons and heartbreak. Their experiences and reflections form the foundation of their writing featuring songs that are brutally honest but tell a personal story of love and life through soul-filled heavy groove.
This six-piece soul ensemble complete with guitar, rhythm section, horns and the instantly captivating vocal range of front woman Odette Mercy are sure to have audiences up and dancing.
BlackTop
The combined forces of two soulful, powerhouse vocalists, a word flow master and a world-class drummer make up the high energy band that is BlackTop. Comfortable on the stage, they have the distinct ability to connect to their audience, kickstart the dance floor to create an unforgettable performance.
With individual experience across multiple styles, BlackTop explore Rhythm and Blues (RnB), Soul and Funk with a repertoire spanning from Chaka Kahn and Stevie Wonder to Beyonc├&reg; and Bruno Mars. Paired with top quality musicians, this band will deliver smooth, soulful sounds guaranteed to have everyone singing and dancing along, all night long.
Siobhan Cotchin
Siobhan Cotchin is a West Australian folk/pop singer songwriter and West Australian Academy of Performing Arts Student. Siobhan has a writing style akin to the effortless musing of Joni Mitchell, laced with inspiration drawn from Bob Dylan. Siobhan's jangly luminous melodies hover over her lyrics, providing the essential pop writing element that has resulted in many song writing accolades.
Nominated for the West Australian Music Association (WAM) Song of the Year, Winner of Fairbridge and Nannup Music Festival's &amp; Emerging Artist Award, and song of the year with local youth radio station Pirate FM, Siobhan is an artist to watch.

Music in the Park - City of Joondalup

PAV partnered with Austal to help launch a next-generation ferry for JR Kyushu of Japan.
Developed at Austal's shipyard in Henderson WA, the 83 metre trimaran boasts a capacity of 502 passengers and an operational speed of 37 knots, and will service a key strategic route between Fukuoka, Japan and Busan, South Korea in time for the 2020 summer Olympics.
Over 70 lighting fixtures and a concert hazer highlighted the trimaran's hull and added atmosphere to the large venue, and included four custom gobos to project key logos around the venue.
A 27m x 11m motorised drape system created an intimate area for formalities and the moment of reveal was punctuated by a push of the "big red button".
Formalities were covered by a 28-panel LED screen and a PA for speeches.

Austal Launches New Ferry for Japan-Korea Route

MYOB's Incite roadshow is an annual showcase of the latest and greatest from MYOB's business software suite, demonstrating enhancements to their SME solutions.
The half-day conference featured keynote presentations and was complemented by an expo style setup that enabled face-to-face demo sessions with MYOB experts.
PAV-powered solutions included two 30ft blended projection screens (positioned either side of the official roadshow printed banner), static &amp; intelligent lighting, cameras for live footage to screen, an L'Acoustic Kiva PA system, broadcast control equipment, staging, draping, and standalone activations for expo booths.

Our brief from Perth Festival was to bring the WA Museum Boola Bardip's stunning internal exhibits to life on the fa├&ordm;ade of one of Perth's most beautiful buildings - Hackett Hall.
The unlimited creative license allowed our multimedia star and projection mapping guru Kye Howard to design an eye popping series of scenes utilising PAV's maximum projection firepower. Projected exhibits include Otto the whale, spiders, dinosaurs, Ammonites, the colonial WA flag and even Luke Steel's stage head dress.
A Night Inside Out at the Museum also features abstract and avant-garde offerings such as early computing, flora, WA's gold mining explosion and knitted art pieces. Neon paint from exhibits drips down the fa&ccedil;ade and sequined dresses cover the building revealing the post-it notes of time that have logged and recorded the many stories of Boola Bardip. Finishing with the heartbeat of the building that represents West Australian life and all that lives within the walls. Elements are mixed and jumbled all trying to break free from the foundations of the building utilising typical illusion-based projection mapping techniques.
Created over several months, Kye begins mapping projects with a detailed building scan that offers maximum creative opportunities and vitally - depth. Stunning visuals and smooth transitions are designed using state-of-the-art software such as Cinema 4D, X-particles, Redshift and After Effects. PAV Events is proud to add The City of Lights to our catalogue of mapping projects that features Perth Mint, The Balayi Festival and Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak.

Running on Steam Power: Energy Club WA &amp; Society of Petroleum Engineers WA 2021 Industry Gala Ball
The elegant romance of Victorian fashion was fused with post-apocalyptic steam-powered industry to transform the Crown Ballroom into a dystopian wasteland for the Energy Club WA &amp; Society of Petroleum Engineers WA 2021 Industry Gala Ball.
PAV provided steampunk theming, lighting, audio, vision, and event management for the event.
A giant picture frame with up-lit red ruched drapery marked the pre-event photo wall and guests were greeted on entry with a one-of-a-kind Champagne flute serving dress.
The stage set was designed to reflect a theoretical retro-futuristic world.
Truss elements featured on stage, including a curved truss lectern. A custom-made pipe system emitted "steam" from smoke cannons connected backstage.
A "Dessert Bar" and "Lounge Bar", constructed from illuminated bars with custom signage designed in-house, were located at the rear of the room, .
Lisa Woodbrook was MC for the evening and O Entertainment provided the floor show acts.
Little Belle played three sets to finish the night.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers WA is the largest individual member organisation serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry.

Running on Steam Power

Perth became the proud custodian of footy's night of nights on Sunday as Optus Stadium hosted the 94th Charles Brownlow Medal.
With a little over three weeks notice, the PAV team worked tirelessly alongside the AFL and partners to design, plan and execute a stunning live broadcast ceremony in front of 800 guests within the River View Room.
Led by PAV's Venue Manager Matt Wardrope we made sure guests shone on all 48 meters of the famous Brownlow red carpet and accompanying media wall.
Ballroom AV included Panasonic 20K projection, L'Acoustics KIVA audio and over 200 lighting fixtures.
All vision including over 50sqm of stunning 3mm LED was controlled by PIXERA media servers via Barco E2 control.
We couldn't be prouder of the result and thanks to the army of over 40 staff that made the dream possible.

2021 Brownlow Medal

60,000 fans filled Optus Stadium to witness the first-ever AFL Grand Final held in Perth and just the second time in the competition's 124-year history that a Grand Final has been held outside Victoria.
AFL's decision to shift the 2021 Grand Final to Optus Stadium was credited to WA being among the safest places in Australia to host major events during the COVID-19 pandemic.
PAV provided event and AV services for 10 corporate event spaces including the VIP room at the Victory Lounge, where guests were entertained by speeches from AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, WA Premier Mark McGowan, and TV personality and Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas.
The Melbourne Demons secured their first premiership since 1964 with a 74 point win over the Western Bulldogs.
With a national average audience of 4.11m, the fixture was the most watched television program in Australia to date this year.

Perth hosts historic AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium

The 50th edition of the WA Tourism Awards, hosted by the Tourism Council Western Australia and Perth Airport, welcomed 800 esteemed guests to celebrate Western Australia's dedication to tourism excellence. Attendees hailed from all corners of our breathtaking state, bringing together dignitaries, tourism operators, and venue operators for a spectacular night of celebration.
The WA Tourism Awards aim to recognise significant achievements and innovation while providing a platform to raise the profiles of outstanding individuals, businesses, and destinations among the industry and consumers.
At the heart of the evening stood our state-of-the-art 2.6P LED Screen, stretching over twenty meters in length. Its vibrant display fully immersed guests in the night's proceedings, with no guest missing a moment of the action.

Red Cape Ball
Optus Stadium's ballroom came alive as 900 heroes attended the annual Red Cape Ball, organised by <a href="https://www.zero2hero.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">zero2hero</a>. This inspiring event empowers young people to become community mental health heroes. It was an enchanting evening that not only entertained but also created a lasting impact on our youth. The event raised a tremendous $415K thanks to the generosity of the guests, enabling 92 young people to attend Camp Hero.
The evening commenced with the Moorditj Mob's moving and interactive Welcome to Country. Guests were then enthralled by Carmelo Entertainment's high-energy production. The festivities continued as DJ Gibbs and Little Belle kept the dance floor alive well into the night.
Being part of such an enchanting night dedicated to a worthy cause was a privilege. Our contributions included multiple projections, live fixed and roaming cameras, the renowned L'Acoustics line array, an expertly designed band stage, an extensive lighting package, and theming.
These events exemplified our team's unwavering determination, skills, and resources, showcasing that possibilities are endless when passion and love for what we do drive us. We take great pride in creating extraordinary events that surpass expectations and leave lasting impressions. The SportWest Awards are WA's premier sport-awards. This prestigious event unites the Western Australian community to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of our local sporting heroes, both on and off the field.

Setting the Stage:
Once again, the iconic Optus Stadium served as the backdrop for the 2023 ceremony, and PAV had the honour of designing a bespoke award stage for this special event. The setup showcased three dazzling LED screens from our new P2.6 range, adding a hint of brilliance to the night.
The Prestigious Sports Star Award:
Since its inauguration in 1956, the Sports Star Award has been the pinnacle of recognition for West Australian athletes. Many of WA's outstanding sportspeople have won this award since it was first presented to Morna Pearce in 1956, and this year, Jai Hindley took out the Sports Star award for the second time.
Congratulations to Hindley for this win, making history as the first-ever Australian to win the Giro d'Italia, and for being honoured with a Sir Hubert Opperman Trophy for the Australian Cyclist of the Year.

Thousands benefit from participating in and supporting sport at all levels, learning many personal and community values through their sporting endeavours and gaining inspiration from their heroes.

The MACA Cancer 200: Ride for Research has become a powerful symbol of hope and determination in the fight against cancer in WA.For its 11th consecutive year, the Ride for Research brought together cyclists for an incredible 200km journey to raise vital funds for cancer research.This year's event had over 1,500 riders taking on the challenge to ride from Optus Stadium Park to Mandurah and back over two days, raising a whopping $8,627,348 in the process!100% of all donations go back to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, supporting the development of kinder treatments and better outcomes for cancer patients.Technical Execution:Behind the scenes, we contributed a range of cutting-edge technology that helped enhance the event's impact and seamless execution.The all-exciting start and finish lines were fully equipped with significant audiovisual systems to showcase the excitement - and support, encourage, and direct riders through their journeys.PAV's Optus Stadium systems featured:<ul><li>A multi-zoned audio system with 20 speakers</li><li>A double-sided 5m x 3m LED screen for the start and finish line</li><li>An impressive LED truck,</li><li>and two wireless camera systems.</li></ul>The Mandurah checkpoint gave the riders a vital moment of respite and camaraderie. What a series it's been! The BBL 12 season was nothing short of sensational. A summer filled with fun, excitement, and non-stop action! Congratulations to the Perth Scorchers for their outstanding performance throughout the BBL 12 and their thrilling victory in the final showdown.
It was our pleasure to supply AV at Optus Stadium throughout the series, and we were lucky enough to witness the action-packed matches and historic win firsthand.
Some highlights from our contribution included integrating the dancers' stage into the seating bowl, facilitating the electrifying player runout race, as well as some captivating interviews with cricketing heroes.
We were particularly proud to deliver a cutting-edge digital solution for the Finals Presentation stage. With just a week to pull it together (once the Optus Stadium location was confirmed), we created a stage setup that appeared to be months in the making!

Perth Scorchers Triumph in BBL 12: A Memorable Season at Optus Stadium

In an innovative collaboration with Development WA, PAV recently infused life and vibrancy into the railway line precinct of Yagan Square.The installation served as a vibrant supporting act to the revered <a href="https://www.lightscapeperth.com.au/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">LIGHTSCAPE</a> festival in Kings Park, adapting elements from its designs and translating them into stunning animated architectural projections.The temporary installation stood proudly for an entire week, mesmerising passers-by with its tumbling indigenous flowers. In perfect harmony, the iconic Yagan Square digital tower became a canvas for supporting artwork, seamlessly tying together the exhibition and creating an immersive visual narrative.In a brilliant and unexpected surprise, the projection artwork transformed the ground into an impromptu hopscotch-style playground, with children joyfully hopping amongst the artwork. This was a heartwarming touch and a testament to how audiovisual artistry can craft special moments that resonate with all ages.Behind the scenes, PAV's technical prowess was on show. The projection installation transformed the space using a combination of 2 x 20,000-lumen projectors and 3 x 12,000-lumen projectors. This remarkable festival, presented as part of <a href="https://www.perthfestival.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Perth Festival</a> Special Projects "<a href="https://www.evernow.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">EverNow WA</a>", captured the hearts of over 300,000 visitors in 2017 and 2019. This year, it returned with even more spectacular 3D projections to light up Kings Park, weaving through stories of Western Australia's beautiful South-West and the rich culture that has nurtured this cherished land for millennia. A free-event suitable for all audiences, Boorna Waanginy was testament to our belief in making world-class cultural experiences accessible to everyone.

The Technical Wizardry:
Our involvement in Boorna Waanginy went beyond providing projectors; it encompassed creating a visual spectacle that left audiences in awe. We supplied an array of projectors with an astounding combined lumen power of 284,000 lumens. Walking into the event was like stepping into a portal to another realm. It took visitors on a profound journey through various stages, each with a remarkable story. From "Ashbaby" to "Swan Song" and "Extinction," the event compelled audiences to confront the consequences of human behaviour on local species. The journey concluded at "Future Weaving," where community groups united, leaving a lasting sense of upliftment. PAV took pride in helping these stories come to life through our projection expertise.
Behind the Scenes:
The setup was a marvel in itself. Our team executed an impressive, choreographed dance each night to park two trucks across specified marks on the ground. Inside those trucks were the projectors, ready to beam out magic. Our dedicated team changed sleep schedules to light up the night and went through a meticulous and collaborative process to turn dreams into reality across four nights.

Embarking on a transformative 135km trek, Lee Williams, our legendary General Manager, joined forces with other remarkable CEOs in Western Australia to fundraise an astounding 278K. Their journey was not just a physical challenge but a heartfelt mission to raise vital funds for youth mental health.

zero2hero is dedicated to educating and empowering young heroes, fostering a new generation of mental health leaders, and working to prevent suicide in Western Australia.

zero2hero's Cape to Cape trek is a week like no other and one that will stay with me forever.
The brief: 135kms over five days and raise as much money as possible for a wonderful cause.&nbsp;
Suicide has touched many of our lives. It has had profound and long-lasting impacts on my family and work colleagues. The tragedy of suicide can devastate the families, friends and communities of those left behind, often leaving many unanswered questions.
zero2hero is an amazing organisation full of remarkable people. Headed by the truly inspirational Ashlee Harrison, the charity's mission is to educate, engage and empower young people to support and maintain their own mental health.
I was privileged to trek alongside Ashlee and spend the week with many of the zero2hero team, including Amy, Kate and Brodie. Kelly and Joanne expertly guided us in both the literal and emotional sense of the word.
Also with us each step of the way was Marshall Grosse, zero2hero alumni and charity advocate. Here's a guy who walks the walk and, with his firsthand experience of what the charity's programmes can deliver for our youth, blew us all away with his maturity, passion and wit.
Our journey began on Sunday as each of the twenty-three trekkers assembled in Bunker Bay for a coach ride to our Augusta digs. Who would have thought this ninety-minute journey would take five days to replicate on foot?

Each of the next five days began with early starts and up to 30 km of trekking through the glorious southwest cape of our unique State. Over sand, rock, fire trail and forest, the Cape-to-Cape route is a feast for the senses and at times, bloody hard work. From the moving Welcome to Country in Augusta to the elation of reaching Friday's pinnacle, I look back and recollect all of the journey's natural highlights: untouched beaches, rugged cliffs, spring wildflower blooms, countless dolphins and whales, kangaroos, the largest emu in WA (unsubstantiated).
Our silent walk through the rich Boranup Forest remains a trek highlight. In the forest, I felt the most grounded. I was able to recall two recent trek learnings fully.&nbsp;
1. Be where your feet are (thanks, JL)
2. "Komorebi", a Japanese word meaning "sunlight leaking through trees"
The visual journey was only one level of the experience. Getting to know and learn from my fellow trekkers and support staff added an unexpected layer to my week. Each had a different story and was open to sharing their experiences and the journey that led them here. Taking five days out of our working lives can prove challenging. Leaving work (including the phone and emails) behind, for the most part, is even more difficult. Kudos to those whose phones remained in Bunker Bay. Without technology or the outside world and only our daily target to reach, we could walk alongside a new person during each stage. We shared amazing stories, joked, learned and ultimately encouraged each trekker throughout the day. There was even room for song, and thankfully, the acclaimed Joel Jackson's voice carried mine through various Glen Campbell, Elvis, and Tom Jones ballads.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Our nights consisted of recovery, the odd beer (or three), and sharing some incredible meals by the highly talented Matt and zero2hero's generous volunteers. We heard real-life accounts of how the charity impacts adolescents and, powerfully, how our fundraising efforts would be utilised.
Each of the heartfelt stories shared between us moved the entire room. The last night felt like we had known each other for years and that we could take on the world! Thankfully, come the morning, we only needed to take on another 25 kilometres.
After an emotional last lunch where we each reflected on our incredible journey and achievements, it was on to the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. Being greeted by my family (Billy the dog included) was moving. Touching the lighthouse alongside a group of amazing humans was pure joy.

I feel honoured to have been granted the opportunity to join the initial zero2hero CEO Trek, and I thank both Ashlee and our PAV team for their support in making it happen. The trek collectively raised over $270K, a massive sum that will do amazing things.&nbsp;

We were lucky to immerse ourselves in the latest global innovations and trends shaping the AV industry, and here's how the event went!

The venue spanned an expansive floor space (over thirty times that of Perth's equivalent the <a href="https://www.pcec.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre</a>!) It provided an impressive backdrop for discovering the latest advancements in AV technology.

Lee's experience at ISE 2024 was nothing short of thrilling. He described the event as a career highlight, emphasising the invaluable connections made and the wealth of new ideas and products brought back to PAV. The conference provided abundant collaboration and knowledge exchange opportunities, from networking with familiar faces to forging new connections.
One of the most striking aspects of ISE 2024 was the sheer scale of the exhibition, which utilised every square metre of the convention centre. Lee journeyed a staggering 100,000 steps throughout the expansive showroom floors over the course of 3 days.
ISE 2024 presented a wonderland of AV technology, from state-of-the-art audio systems to immersive visual displays. Particularly impressive were the innovative solutions, ranging from augmented reality experiences to the latest in content production.

At PAV, we feel honoured to contribute to projects that celebrate Australia's long and rich cultural heritage, such as the Warrarnku Ninti celebration in Newman.
Warrarnku Ninti (which means "Knowledge of Country") is a significant event celebrating the rich cultural history and artistry of the Martu people. We were privileged to contribute by transforming an incredible collection of paintings by <a href="https://martumili.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Martumili Artists</a> into an immersive audiovisual experience.
Having worked on previous instalments, we were eager to create something unique and elevate the experience of this year's celebration.&nbsp;
We decided to debut some of our latest equipment in honour of the occasion, including our newly acquired:

Varsity Install: Sport + Audiovisual = Happy Burger Lovers

Craigie Leisure Centre recently received a $9.1 million revamp and now sits among the premier community leisure and aquatic facilities in Western Australia.The modern, spacious and aesthetic venue has enjoyed incredible AV installation upgrades from our Installations team, with the first stage starting late last year and the second coming to a recent close.Stage 1 of the AV revamp enjoyed substantial AV installed in the group fitness and cycle studios. Stage 2 was even bigger and better, with the new wellness studio and gymnasium expansion, treated to a complete AV upgrade by PAV. The intricacies of the completed installations and the quality and professional delivery are a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team.Stage 1 saw the group fitness and wellness studios fitted with high-power, high-end sound systems to cover the extremities and diversity of classes in these centre areas.The body combat classes, for instance, blast the sound system and require high energy and punch, whereas the yoga and stretch classes need clarity and warmth from the system. Both systems performed exactly as hoped, and the outcome overjoyed the client.The installation required significant on-site design, particularly because the team wanted to install the speakers in a precise location for optimal sound quality and feedback reduction. Eventual class-goers would need to hear the instructors' voices over the music - and hear they will! The results were higher than anyone could have hoped for, thanks to the dedication of our team.The Cycle Studio did not require quite the same volume as the bigger studios. However, the sound system installed is still capable of high volume and clarity, which was very important as the bikes can often be loud when the class is at capacity.Additionally, LED lighting systems were installed in the Wellness, Group Fitness and Cycle Studios with a combination of wash lights and scanners. Lighting scenes can be selected from a touchscreen for a simple colour wash in the spaces through lots of movement from the scanners.Visually, the team installed an extensive amount of equipment. The main studios each have a 4m screen and laser projector with 86" LCD screens on either side, and the HD video cameras they installed mean that the instructor can be visible on any screen and seen clearly by fitness fanatics from anywhere in the spaces.Additionally, the team fitted the Cycle Studio with a 98" LCD screen, which worked exceptionally well in the space, as well as nine 75" screens and four 86" LCD screens in the new Gymnasium. The screens can show any combination of the incoming video from five Foxtel decoders, Nightlife, Bio Circuit, Team Beats and free-to-air. All sound and video can be controlled using a touchscreen mapped out in coordination with the space, making it a simple-to-use, centralised system.Although faced with vast issues on site with stock deliveries and staffing with the installation commencing amidst Covid, our Installation team still hit all delivery targets from day one through to completion. Their expertise, knowledge, and ability to adapt to unique client needs shone through in this project. Our Sales &amp; Installation Team had the privilege of collaborating closely with John Paul College and Santellis Architects to design and deliver the audio-visual systems for their brand new Performing Arts Teaching Theatre in Kalgoorlie.Equipped with cutting-edge hardware, the system offers an intuitive, easy-to-use touch panels for teachers and students, thanks to an automated "house system." This system provides flexibility and enables teaching staff to adapt the space to various class styles.Moreover, our advanced functionality allows for comprehensive live stage productions, with motorised Red Velvet House Curtains, lighting bars, and a range of production lighting systems to illuminate performers.To ensure top-notch lighting setup and commissioning, we enlisted the expertise of one of our lighting specialists from our Optus Stadium team, who helped to seamlessly integrate the GrandMA3 and Allen &amp; Heath digital mixing desk, providing onsite training and a smooth hand-over process.Our system seamlessly combines Dante networked audio capabilities with high-quality LG displays, ensuring production crews and performers backstage have a clear view of the stage through the Panasonic PTZ camera system.Through close collaboration with the school staff and their architect, we meticulously detailed and documented all the project's aspects before construction began. Elevating Learning Spaces: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at our John Paul College Theatre Install

The brief:&nbsp;To create a digital canvas from which <a href="https://artgallery.wa.gov.au/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Art Gallery of WA</a> could share upcoming events and news. Additionally, the build would provide a platform for digital artworks to come to life in person.Making an impressive statement in the entrance foyer, the PAV team created an ultra-high resolution display with fine-pitch LED stretching from floor to ceiling (5m tall and nearly 4 metres wide).We worked alongside the Art Gallery's design requirements to incorporate the LED display to complement its existing design and architectural style. We created a custom stainless steel frame/surround for the display to match the reception desk- a piece of masterpiece metalwork in its own right.PAV's digital content team provided onsite training and support, enabling the Art Gallery staff to expand their in-house software knowledge to drive the system and incorporate enhanced graphics tailored and scheduled to their changing needs.With a fast-approaching gallery opening date, a quick turnaround time from our Installs team was imperative. We rose to this challenge by utilising specialised air freight services, professional technical installations, and a fantastic gallery team to deliver on time and with submillimeter accuracy.

Varsity Cannington: Is This Varsity's Greatest Venue Yet?

The PAV Sales and Installation team recently completed a significant AV upgrade at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre in Gosnells. This project was unique, as the initial meeting with the client presented a rare opportunity to propose solutions without a set budget, allowing for boundless quality and the delivery of a stellar result for our client.
<h3>Foyer and Green Room Enhancements</h3>
We started by enhancing the Foyer and Green Room with digital signage screens, a high-definition camera for stage capture, and a fully updated paging system. Additionally, the SDI signal/feeds were upgraded, and a state-of-the-art matrix was installed to manage the SDI sends to all screens.
<h3>Studio Transformation</h3>
Our first focus was the Studio, previously reliant on portable PAs or client-supplied equipment. Peter Carr, our primary contact, was eager for a substantial AV setup and the result far exceeded his expectations.
Features of the build included:
<ul>
<li>The installation of a laser projector paired with a 102" screen, ideal for the low-ceiling space.</li>
<li>A carefully designed sound system to cater to various activities, from dance classes to presentations and wellness sessions.</li>
<li>Powerful and smooth-sounding speakers mounted on custom brackets allow curtains to move freely behind them.</li>
<li>An amplifier with built-in DSP for speaker presets, requiring minimal tuning.</li>
<li>All control gear and amplifiers are housed under the reception counter to keep the Studio's dance floor clear. They are managed via a touchscreen and a high-end DSP.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Theatre Upgrades</h3>
The theatre's projector needed an upgrade, and the client desired improved brightness and resolution for scheduled screenings. The new projector met the budget and exceeded the required specifications, leaving the client&nbsp;highly&nbsp;impressed with the outstanding picture quality.
The highlight of the project was the theatre speaker upgrade. Initially, the client requested the replacement of the two main stage speakers, which evolved into a comprehensive Left-Center-Right and rear/side fill system. Given the theatre's compact size, we selected speakers with a small footprint but powerful output.
Features of the build included:
<ul>
<li>Main LCR speakers and coaxial speakers for the side fill are driven by amplifiers with built-in processors. This setup requires virtually no tuning and is so efficient that it operates comfortably at low power (20%).&nbsp;</li>
<li>The system delivers uniform sound quality throughout the theatre, even for those seated close to the stage. The front LCR speakers produce incredible sound, with testing showing that the subwoofer could remain off for most events, yet the system still produced robust sound.</li>
</ul>
Peter was thrilled with the result and confident the theatre could now deliver high-quality sound for any show.
The Don Russell Performing Arts Centre's AV upgrade has significantly enhanced its capabilities, setting a new standard for performance and presentation quality. From the foyer to the theatre, each space now boasts state-of-the-art AV technology, ensuring an exceptional experience for performers and audiences alike.
