The LatestAfter decades in the dark, one of Perth’s most iconic industrial landmarks roared back to life in spectacular fashion — and we were there to help power it up once more, only this time in a completely different way.
Project highlights:
• Site transformation: We reimagined a dormant industrial site into a functioning festival venue with purpose-built AV infrastructure and spatial design.
• Projection mapping: Our visuals wrapped the venue in light and movement, transforming it into a storytelling canvas.
• AV integration: Our seamless design and operation elevated every performance — from intimate storytelling to high-energy live music.
For the first time in its history, the East Perth Power Station opened its doors to the public, reimagined as a vibrant Perth Festival hub pulsing with music, movement, and imagination. From large-scale theatrical productions to heart-thumping live music, this raw and awe-inspiring space became a stage like no other.
PAV was proud to play a lead role in bringing this bold vision to life — delivering the event production, projection mapping and audiovisual systems that turned a dormant structure into one of the most talked-about venues of the year.

Event Production in a Raw Industrial Space
With its towering structures and gritty industrial charm, the old East Perth Power Station posed a unique creative challenge:
How do you take an industrial space untouched since the early ’80s and turn it into a dynamic, immersive venue fit for a world-class arts festival?
Our team worked closely with Perth Festival from concept to execution, designing an event production solution that honoured the site’s architectural legacy while unlocking its full potential as a cultural precinct.
We engineered a custom AV setup tailored to the venue’s quirks — integrating awe-inspiring projection across both interior and exterior spaces — all while ensuring seamless operation for multiple shows running concurrently.
Projection Mapping That Brought the Venue to Life
The true centrepiece of the transformation was our large-scale projection mapping across the Power Station’s exterior façade. Using state-of-the-art projectors and custom visuals, we turned the building itself into a canvas, its industrial walls becoming a living, breathing piece of artwork.
From powerful live music to boundary-pushing theatre and dance, the East Perth Power Station proved its strength as a flexible, world-class performance space.
Across the Festival season, it played host to an extraordinary breadth of talent — from the electrifying First Nations sounds of Electric Fields and the cinematic grandeur of Mahabharata, to the genre-bending choreography of Carcasa.
Each show brought something entirely different, and our AV adapted seamlessly to highlight the unique energy, emotion, and artistry of every performance — all within one remarkable, reimagined venue.
Transforming the East Perth Power Station was more than a project — it was a passion.
At PAV, we thrive on collaborations that challenge the norm and celebrate what’s possible through creativity and technology.
This partnership with Perth Festival not only reimagined an old venue, but redefined what live performance can look and feel like in our city.
We can’t wait to see what the East Perth Power Station becomes next — and we’re proud to have helped light the way for the use of an iconic Perth landmark.
