Perth hosts historic AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium

60,000 fans filled Optus Stadium to witness the first-ever AFL Grand Final held in Perth – and just the second time in the competition’s 124-year history that a Grand Final has been held outside Victoria.

AFL’s decision to shift the 2021 Grand Final to Optus Stadium was credited to WA being among the safest places in Australia to host major events during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PAV provided event and AV services for 10 corporate event spaces including the VIP room at the Victory Lounge, where guests were entertained by speeches from AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, WA Premier Mark McGowan, and TV personality and Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas.

The Melbourne Demons secured their first premiership since 1964 with a 74 point win over the Western Bulldogs.

With a national average audience of 4.11m, the fixture was the most watched television program in Australia to date this year.
